Dark Fantasy
A painting that turned out to be a really engaging process for merging what I enjoy the most about 2D and 3D workflows, respectively. Inspired by all the obvious influences, but more than anything because a massive fantasy castle will always be such an exciting vista to imagine.
Final painting
Initial block-in. The render has enough detail and form thanks to Blender’s raytracing within Eevee to allow for a really fast paintover adding in believable atmosphere and light to guide the paintover.
Final Render- later chopped up into layers to allow for ease of painting. A lot of extra details here such as window shapes were added in using grease pencil objects converted to curves within Blender, a great workflow for rapidly implying extra forms.
Video showing overview of set construction- as this view shows, elements were put together with a specific camera view in mind, allowing for a more economical workflow.
