Pinocchio: Longhouse Exterior
Pablo rivera housedesign

Design for the exterior of Geppetto's longhouse. In Haida society, an entire family lineage lives in one longhouse, with the family's wealth and status reflected in the totem pole and the house's exterior ornamentation. To that end, I designed the longhouse to appear lavish, with a large main totem pole, and the four end poles topped by carved figures. The entrance to the house is through the open mouth on the totem pole, and the main light source comes from the smoke flap right above the central fire place.
