Summertime Clothes

Painting of a family group of Mamenchisaurus sinocanadorum out for an early summer beach stroll, 159 million years ago along what will one day be central China.

Final painting

Early sketch- I ultimately chose to flip the composition and enlarge the sauropods to have them better sit within the environment. I unfortunately didn’t save many other steps, and also did not make a proper value nor color rough, which meant this painting definitely was more of an exploratory process than a straightforward approach. But fun challenge all the same to figure things out in real time- one of the better aspects of digital work is that it lends itself to an exploration for a piece.
